The Way of the Warrior-Trader: The Financial Risk-Taker's Guide to Samurai Courage, Confidence and Discipline By Richard D. McCall
          Publisher: McGraw-Hill 1997-02-01 | 224 Pages | ISBN: 0786311630 | DjVu, scan not OCR, readable | 10 MB

Trading is war, an ongoing battle against other traders to get to profitable positions first, seize profits and move on to the next battle. The Way of the Warrior Trader applies time-honored precepts of the samurai discipline to modern trading, showing the reader ways to use centuries-old methods for victory in today's trading markets. The Way of the Warrior Trader: Provides a six step action plan for trading; Explains how to recover psychologically from a loss; Describes how to overcome the deep-seated psychological barriers to effective trading.

Dr. Richard McCall, a psychologist who teaches martial arts principles to professionals, turns his attention exclusively to the fiscal battlefield in The Way of the Warrior-Trader: The Financial Risk- Taker's Guide to Samurai Courage, Confidence and Discipline. Likening today's high-performance traders to Japan's legendary samurai, he combines personal anecdotes with success stories to show why the mind is the most important weapon in both arsenals--and how it can best be used in battle.

The Trading Game: Playing by the Numbers to Make Millions By Ryan Jones
            Publisher: Wiley 1999-04-15 | 256 Pages | ISBN: 0471316989 | PDF | 1.4 MB

Clear, concise, and practical, The Trading Game shows you how to harness the power of money management for any trading method "The goal of most futures traders is to make a million dollars as fast and as painlessly as possible. Unfortunately, few traders achieve this goal. In The Trading Game, Ryan Jones demonstrates how the proper application of his new money management strategy, Fixed Ratio Trading, can enable an average trading system to earn spectacular profits. My advice? Don't trade until you've spent as much time and effort on money management as you've spent on developing your entry and exit rules." -Tom Bierovic, Manager System Trading & Development Education, Omega Research, Inc. "Ryan Jones is on the cutting edge of the most important element in the art of speculation-be it stocks or commodities-money management." -Larry Williams, trader and author Long-Term Secrets to Shot-Term Trading "Money management is the most overlooked part of trading but is the key to building enormous wealth. Ryan Jones first overviews classical methods and then discusses a new paradigm which, combined with a reliable trading method, can lead to financial security." -Murray Ruggiero, President Ruggiero & Associates; contributing editor, Futures magazine "At last-a money management book that is not intimidating or boring. Ryan Jones has made a complex subject easier to understand and follow. I am especially excited for all independent traders." -Glen Ring, President, Glen Ring Enterprises editor of the widely respected View on Futures newsletter "Ryan Jones has always been one of the most innovative traders and creative minds in the industry. With the writing of The Trading Game: Playing by the Numbers to Make Millions, he has taken the science of money management and risk control to another level. I wholeheartedly endorse his efforts and recommend this new work required reading to anyone either just entering the trading arena, or already participating in it." -Ted Tesser, CPA and author, The Trader's Tax Survival Guide

Brendan Moynihan, "Trading on Expectations: Strategies to Pinpoint Trading Ranges, Trends, and Reversals"
              Wiley | 1997 | ISBN: 0471177822 | 232 pages | PDF | 4,2 MB

Successful traders know that before stepping into the wilderness of the speculative markets, you need a solid understanding of basic market behavior. But the conventional methods often fall short of providing this basic knowledge. Academics assert one thing, economists and fundamental analysts another, and technicians something altogether different. And, seemingly, none of them agree with each other.

Trading on Expectations explores the ideas behind the dominant schools of analysis, and shows the validity of each and demonstrates how each, albeit at different times, reflects what the market is doing. Sometimes market prices can be predicted using the economists' models; sometimes prices follow a "random walk" as the academics claim; at other times price is responding to the patterns, trendlines, and breakout levels identified by technicians.

In this groundbreaking new book, Brendan Moynihan draws on his experience as a trader, analyst, and researcher to develop a method that focuses on the prime mover of prices and incorporates the strengths of the conventional methods. Drawing on the participant-focused Chicago Board of Trade Market ProfileTM and the psychologically focused Contrary Opinion, he synthesizes and modifies the best in these different methods and skillfully creates a single model of market behavior —the Sentiment-Activity Model.

Moynihan carefully describes how the combination of participants' actions and expectations about the future determines the direction of prices in the markets. This dynamic interaction between actions and expectations explains the emergence of the dominant phases of the markets: price trends, trading ranges, and trend reversals. What's more, Moynihan's unique model enables you to pinpoint the combinations of activity and sentiment that determine the three states of the market as they unfold, in time frames ranging from a single day to several weeks or months. The Sentiment-Activity Model also provides a way to determine how the market is likely to respond to various news items, explaining the apparent anomalies of price behavior in the process. To document his finding, Moynihan provides illuminating applications over a multimonth time period to four markets: Treasury bonds, soybeans, deutsche marks, and crude oil.

Offering a new, more powerful way of understanding the dynamics of market behavior, Trading on Expectations is a must-read for all traders in stocks, options, and futures.

"Brendan Moynihan has studied the 'real' economists and found the truth about how human action and individual motivations determine market prices. Trading on Expectations combines the best of the traders' economic and technical tools. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn how to trade more successfully." —Brian S. Wesbury Chief Economist Griffin, Kubik, Stephens & Thompson and former chief economist Joint Economic Committee of the United States Congress

"In today's fast-forward society, readers of this book can quickly absorb the real essence of Trading Reality that takes years to understand. In fact, many traders have come and gone without realizing how successful traders operate. It could take years to gather the perspectives of this book. The Hightower Report plans to use the book for training its analysts!" —David C. Hightower, Editor The Hightower Report

"Where most market texts simply reheat and serve the same old approaches, Trading on Expectations offers a fresh perspective by combining the best of several market disciplines into a logical theory and workable system for trading all financial markets." —Michael Zentz Director of Fixed Income Research Pegasus Econometric Group

La Croix/Petri " Challenges to the Global Trading System (Pacific Trade and Development Conference Series) "
                Routledge; 1 edition | May 9, 2007 | English | ISBN : 0415429862 | 238 pages | PDF | 2MB

International trade continues to expand robustly in East Asia and elsewhere, but global trade negotiations have collapsed and globalization is widely criticized. In this book, the participants of the thirtieth Pacific Trade and Development Conference—including the then-Director General of the World Trade Organization, and leading government officials, academics and executives from a dozen major Pacific Rim economies—debate whether global negotiations have ended once and for all, or are suffering temporarily from ‘globalization fatigue;’ whether East Asia’s new regional partnerships will advance or undermine the global trading system; and whether the region’s trade tensions with the United States will intensify or subside.

Michael C. Thomsett, "Put Option Strategies for Smarter Trading: How to Protect and Build Capital in Turbulent Markets"
                  FT Press | 2009 | ISBN: 013701290X | 240 pages | PDF | 1,4 MB

Options traders most commonly focus on calls: the right to purchase stock if prices rise. The 2008 stock market crash demonstrated just how misguided this singular emphasis can be: thousands of investors suffered massive losses they could have avoided through the careful, defensive use of strategies based on puts instead of calls. Now, for the first time, there's a comprehensive, balanced guide to using puts to create profits, protect stock positions, and hedge against all types of risk. Renowned expert Michael C. Thomsett, author of the #1 options best-seller Getting Started in Options, introduces powerful "defensive" strategies that are typically ignored or deemphasized in most other options books: indispensable techniques for any investor anticipating a market decline, now or in the future. Thomsett shows how to use long puts to ensure paper profits in stock or to offset losses, even when stocks decline steeply and quickly; how to apply puts in straddles and spreads, in multi-part strategies that prevent losses and hedge risks; how to identify opportunities to create cash flow by selling limited-risk naked puts to create cash flow, and much more. These defensive strategies balance out the "you can't lose" approach seen in all too many options books. What's more, Thomsett's clear writing style, complemented by dozens of easy-to-understand tables, graphics, and examples, makes it easy for any investor to apply these strategies successfully.

Technician's Guide to Day and Swing Trading [CD-ROM tutorial]

                          Pring Research | 2002 | ISBN: 0071384006 | ISO | 114+113 Mb

Technician’s Guide to Day and Swing Trading starts with an in-depth coverage of basic topics such as support and resistance, peak and trough analysis, price patterns, gaps and moving averages. It later moves on to cover less widely understood concepts such as one and two day price reversals, momentum, and the integration of momentum and trend analysis. Pring also demonstrates the ins and outs of Bollinger Bands and the Parabolic Indicator. A complete chapter is dedicated to street-smart tips used by professional day traders.

                          • Concepts such as how to use leading stocks to forecast Intraday activity, what to expect after the opening range, how to anticipate market moving events, and how and where to place stops, are the kind of subjects normally reserved for the pros. Pring has broken these down in easy to understand language.

                          • Pring’s law states that trading success is inversely related to emotional stimulation. The final lessons of this tutorial help traders better master their emotions by using down to earth practical marketplace examples.

                          • For the first time ever, this CD shows you how to adapt Pring’s popular KST Indicator to real-time data. These formulas are available to copy and paste into your MetaStock Professional charting software.

                          • Finally, Technician’s Guide to Day and Swing Trading comes complete with an interactive quiz, an excellent way to strengthen newly learned skills. Once you have taken the quiz, the program stores your results and you can easily follow your progress.

                          • An index enables you to quickly isolate any of the subject matter. A quick click on the topic of your choice and the lesson is immediately played.

                          • Technician’s Guide to Day and Swing Trading is the ideal resource to perfect your trading skills. Give yourself an edge in your success in the pursuit of more profits and sound sleep.

In this book, Brian Shannon, a trader with many years of experience explains probably more clearly than in any other book I've read, why technical analysis works, and how to do use it to develop understanding and insight into markets, and ultimately an edge in trading. For reference, Brian has been involved in markets since 1991, has worked as a broker, owned a day-trading firm, managed a hedge fund, ran a proprietary trading desk (where he was also the most profitable trader of that firm) and have taught thousands of traders world-wide with his involvement with MarketWise, a training firm.

The first book of its kind, Investing with Intelligent ETFs scrutinizes one of the most innovative and popular investment securities on the financial market today. Attracted to ETFs' built-in diversification and their flexibility regarding trading and investing styles, high-level investors have been flocking to them for several years. At the present time, there are 646 ETFs, containing $620 billion in assets, and the types of strategies used are continually growing.

Max Isaacman, author of the groundbreaking How to be an Index Investor, offers a timely analysis that provides a close look at the intelligent ETFs available today, explaining how to use the latest securities and indexes to add risk-adjusted gain (alpha) to your portfolio. He introduces you to the various ETF providers and supplies the information you'll need about the many securities variations, including the most complex and specialized. You'll learn how to invest in:

New intelligent ETFs that use quantitative measurements to beat the market
Fundamentally weighted ETFs, which at times outperform cap-weighted ETFs
Passive ETFs for sector representation and market participation
BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India, China) ETFs, from the fastest growing economies in the world
Investing with Intelligent ETFs explains how these and other ETFs are constructed, and why they are superior to stocks and mutual funds. Illustrating strategies previously available only to professional investors, it helps you maximize your leverage and versatility in today's increasingly complex but profitable global market. With this thorough, insightful book, you can participate in new innovative investment strategies with all the knowledge and confidence you'll need.

                                Reader comment:

“I recently ordered and read "Understanding Gaps". I have to say: fabulous book, easy reading, spectacular information. I have been learning, studying, and simulating for 2 months now. I started off fast-learned a little about trading-and started trading live, in less than one week I had crashed and burned losing almost all the money I placed in my account. Since then I have regrouped and taken up serious intensive study, and resolved to put in place a set of strict trading rules. This, of course to avoid making the same mistake again, but more importantly to be successful as a trader long term. I have indentified gaps as a good trade to use as a foundation. The info I got from this book was very, very helpful.”
